RESIDENTIAL SOLAR PROGRAM

Homeowners can receive up to 30% off solar installation costs, to a maximum rebate of $10,000.

Rebates are based on the size of the installation and calculated at $0.75 per watt.

An average Alberta household uses 7,200 kWh per year, which would be generated by a 6.3 kW system in Edmonton. A 6.3 kW system would be eligible for a rebate of $4,700 on a solar PV system costing approximately $17,000 – $19,000.

Residential and Commercial Solar Program

COMMERCIAL SOLAR PROGRAM

Businesses and non-profit organizations are eligible for up to 25% of system costs, to a maximum rebate of $500,000.

Rebates are based on the size of the installation and calculated at $0.75 per watt.

Businesses are also eligible for tax incentives under the 43.2 Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance program, allowing companies to write off the cost of a solar installation in approximately 4 years.

ALBERTA MUNICIPAL SOLAR PROGRAM

Provides financial rebates to Alberta municipalities who install solar on municipal facilities or land (ex. community leagues). Municipalities are eligible for up to $0.90 per watt to a maximum of 25% of total system cost.

GROWING FORWARD 2 SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAICS PROGRAM

Farms are eligible for rebates up to $0.75 per watt. Eligible cost maximums, system size maximums, and overall grant maximums have not yet been determined.

The farm rebate program is currently under revision to align with the Residential and Commercial Solar Program.

Growing Forward Program

ALBERTA INDIGENOUS SOLAR PROGRAM

AISP provides funding for up to 60% of eligible expenses up to a maximum of $200,000 per project.
